TroubleShooting

If you are having a problem with POP Peeper:

  • Make sure you are using the latest version of POP Peeper and the WebMail Plugin (which may contain updates not yet available in the POP Peeper installation).
  • Check the Known Issues page to see if the problem has already been reported and the current status. This page will also list available patches.
  • Check the Frequently Asked Questions to see if your issue has been addressed
  • Search the Forums for posts describing a similar problem
  • If the account has never worked in POP Peeper before, make sure that you have all the settings correct for the account, including the login name, password and server.
  • If you are using a firewall such as ZoneAlarm or Norton Internet Security, make sure that it is allowing POP Peeper access to the internet
  • If the account is a WebMail account*, make sure that you are able to log into the account using your webbrowser. If you are not asked to sign in, log out and sign back in
  • If the account is a WebMail account*, intermittent errors should be expected. Contact tech support if the error has been persisting for at least 6 hours
When reporting an error, provide the following information:
  • POP Peeper version (Go to "Help" menu, select "About," version is on the upper-left)
  • WebMail plugin version (also on the "About" page, WebMail version is in the list on the right)
  • The type of account (POP3, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc)
  • The error message that POP Peeper reports (press the yellow '!' button on the status bar to access the error message)

To report a problem, it is encouraged that you post to the Forums. To report a problem via email, use the Contact Page.

* - "WebMail account" refers to account types that are not defined as POP3 or Imap (ie. edit the account and refer to the "Server Type").
Examples of webmail accounts: hotmail, yahoo, mail.com, exite, juno, lycos, MyWay, NetZero, RediffMail. GMail may be webmail or POP3, depending on your personal settings.
